SUPER AND YOUR WILL
Your will may not control the division of all your assets when you die. If you have superannuation then various people may be entitled to claim on your superannuation.
It is the trustee of your superannuation fund that distributes your superannuation money.
The trustee will generally pay your superannuation to your dependants or your estate. Your dependants do not necessarily have to be financially dependent. Your spouse for example does not need to establish financial dependence.
You should ensure that you make a binding nomination to your fund trustee which the trustee must follow. If you do, then you can use your will to distribute the benefits. You must ensure that your nomination is kept up to date.
You work too hard to save it! At least make sure that it goes to the people who you want it to go to!
